Mission Statement
|
- To rescue healthy young horses from slaughter and return them to
those who will appreciate and maintain them.
- To educate the public on the proper handling and training of equines.

Policies |
- The Mitchell Centre does not accept donated horses unless they are
young, healthy, sound and facing slaughter.
- The Centre will purchase young healthy horses at market value from
all situations that cause undo stress upon said animal.
- The Centre rescues all breeds and gender of horses from weanlings
to 15 year olds.
- The Centre does not place horses with children under the age of
8, unless the children are involved in a 4h-horse program.
- All horses of riding age 4 years and older are vet inspected, coggins tested, before
placement to insure they are healthy and sound.
- All horses of riding age undergo riding evaluations to access their
level of training and ability.
- Potential owners are then matched to their new companion based on
compatibility.
- Horses that fail evaluations, and are deemed dangerous to the public
will be exchanged for other healthy horses awaiting slaughter.
- All placement horses are exchangeable for any other horse on the
placement program of equal value and age up to the age of 20 so long
as they are kept healthy and sound.
- Any returning horses must be accompanied with a vet certificate
of health to prove soundness and a neg. coggins test before being
exchanged.
- Horses that the Centre has placed can be returned at any time for
a tax deductible receipt at market value.
- The Mitchell Centre for Equine Rescue and Education reserves the
right to refuse placement of any horse in its possession for any reason
the Centre deems necessary.
