Dear Supporters:

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your financial support towards The Mitchell Center for Equine Rescue and Education in 2002. With your support we were able to rescue over 270 horses from slaughter. We were also able to feed, care for, and maintain them, until new safe homes could be found. The Centre continues to hold some of these horses awaiting placement.

The slaughter of horses has been on going for many years and had little to do with the drought of 2002. The slaughter continues even today, unabated. In the last 2 years in Canada alone, 131,318 horses of all ages have been processed for human consumption. If only 10% of these majestic animals were healthy and sound that would have been 13,131 horses that went to slaughter needlessly. The percentage is much higher than 10%.

Over the last 4 years The Mitchell Centre has made a difference in the lives of over 800 horses. We can't save them all, but with your support we can save more and we can educate the public to the problem horses face in today's society. Together we are making a difference.

In order to continue our mutual mission we ask that you "please give generously". We are a Non-Profit Federal Charity and all donations over $25.00 will receive a tax-deductible receipt.
